The measurement of a diamond’s weight is
universally measured in carats.

The term ‘carat’ come from the carob seed.
When gem trading began, small and equally
weighted carob seeds were used to balance
scales. Years later, the universal form of
diamond weight - the metric carat was derived
and is still commonly used today.

A diamond's color grade is based on a
diamond's lack of hue. Diamonds are graded
on a scale from D (colorless) to Z based on
their light yellow or brown tint.

'Colorless' diamonds are extremely rare and
considered to hold more value. 'Fancy'
diamonds come in natural colors like blue,
pink, and red and are graded differently than
white or colorless diamonds.
